Nelson and Slaughter in Athens

DeMarcus Nelson and A. J. Slaughter landed in Athens on Monday morning (18/8) for Panathinaikos BC’s pre-season.

The two players were welcomed in the Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos” by the club’s Vice President, Manos Papadopoulos.

In his first statements in Greece DeMarcus Nelson said: “Athens, as well as Greece, has a great history. Also, Panathinaikos has a great history, having won six European championships and many other trophies. So, I am excited to be here and be a part of this team.”

The 29-year-old guard expressed his enthusiasm about starting pre-season training wearing the green jersey and made special reference to the clover’s fans:

“I am fit and I feel ready to start training with my team. I am looking forward to the start of the season and I will do the best I can, along with my teammates, in order for the team to achieve its goals. I am sure that our fans will give us tremendous support as usually. The goal for all of us is to be united in order to be successful. The close bonds between the team and the fans will lead us to success.”

Slaughter: “Panathinaikos is a challenge for me”

A. J. Slaughter stated: “I am very happy to be here as a player of a great club with brilliant history. I am ready to give all I have got to help my team reach its goals. This is a big challenge in my career and I will do my best to make it.”

Then, the green ace talked about the club’s fans, the upcoming season and Dimitris Diamantidis: “The club has great fans, they always stand by the team and show their love by creating a fantastic atmosphere. We will try to make them happy through team work. I feel ready to do my best and I will do it. Panathinaikos has great players and one of the top-notch guards in Europe, Dimitris Diamantidis. I am looking forward to starting training with my new team.”
