Lasme is Back 1 Panathinaikos BC

Panathinaikos BC Superfoods announces the returning of Stephane Lasme.

Lasme (2.03m, December 17, 1982) was born in Port Gentil, Gabon. It was there, at a Leon M’ba junior school’s encounter that he was scouted by a… Greek: Steve Lappas, coach of the Massachusetts University. In his first year he was second in place as far as blocked shots in the Atlantic 10 conference, behind 13 minutes average game time. One year prior to his graduation he had 3.9 stops average and was named defender of the year in the Atlantic 10, when in his graduating year numbers were proof of his improvement: He was named All-American, player of the year and defender of the year in his Atlantic 10 season, was number one stopper and rebounder of the championship and second at two-point shooting range, averaging at the end of the season 13.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 5.1 blocked shots. He also tied Jason Kidd and Michael Anderson’s record to tally 4 triple-doubles in a single season. Only difference being that the two got theirs behind points-rebounds-assists, whilst he nailed his behind points-rebounds-blocked shots.

Lasme was picked at No 46 in the 2007 NBA drafts, for the Golden State Warriors, rounding up the year in the NBDL and the Los Angeles Defenders. On March 21, 2008 he signed a 10 day contract with Miami , where in 15 clashes he averaged 5.5 points, 1.5 blocked shots and 20’2’’ game time. Next season found him in Partizan, with which he won both championship and Serbian Cup, but also the title in the Adriatic League. His career ensued in Maccabi Tel Aviv and then in the USA where he caught the eye of the Boston Celtics. An injury, and although he had already agreed with Maine Red Claws (NBDL team, affiliated to the Boston Celtics) left him sidelined. Last season he signed a deal with Obradoiro, in the Spanish ACB, whereas this summer he took part in the Celtic’s summer league.

On September 29, 2012, Lasme signed with Panathinaikos Athens. He was named the Euroleague Best Defender for the 2012–13 Euroleague season. He averaged 1.86 blocks and 6.14 rebounds per game, while his team allowed 69.8 points per game, thus displaying the second best team defense in the league. Also, Stephane earned MVP of the Greek top league, as well as, best defensive player for 2012-2013 season.

On July 1, 2013, Lasme renewed his contract with Panathinaikos. In May 2014, he was named to the All-Euroleague Second Team of the Euroleague. After that he was named the Best Defensive player and First Team in the Greek league. On June 22, 2014, he signed a two-year contract with Anadolu Efes of Turkey.
