Official announcement from Panathinaikos BC AKTOR | 02/06/2025

They dare to point the finger at us—those who have never once condemned the vile banners displayed in their own stadium, banners celebrating the “triumph of Paiania” while glorifying the murder of a young man and wishing for the bones of Dimitris Diamantidis to rot.
They point the finger—those who embrace hooded figures, those who issue defamatory statements against Mr. Giannakopoulos, calling him a “valet,” only for the city of Piraeus to be flooded the very next day with threatening banners.
Those who made obscene gestures toward our bench during a match held behind closed doors.
They point the finger—those who filed complaints to prevent the owner of Panathinaikos B.C. from honoring the memory of his father at the “Pavlos Giannakopoulos Tournament.”
Given all the above, it is unsurprising that these individuals choose to hide behind their raised fingers when an entire stadium hurls vulgar abuse and threats at the daughter of Dimitris Giannakopoulos and at him personally—something they could have stopped with a mere gesture.
Once again, they hide behind their wagging fingers in the face of refereeing atrocities witnessed by all of Greece, while those same people who for years preached about “cleansing” the sport now revel in hollow victories gained through shameless means.
All of Greece saw the extraordinary efforts made by EOK/KED delegates to keep Olympiacos “alive.” The Hellenic Basketball Federation (EOK) and every member of the Referees’ Committee (KED) are accountable for the disgraceful events that took place on the court at SEF—events that surpassed even the shameless officiating of last year’s fourth final.
We are proud of our players, our coach, and our supporters. We are proud that we will never celebrate fraudulent championships earned on the backs of players’ sweat. We leave that to those who—unsuccessfully—wear the mask of innocence.
And let us put an end to the myth of the “good guys”: they have no right to speak when they have never, not once, made even the slightest gesture to stop the vile chants aimed at children and families.
These people claim to represent a great club, yet in truth, they represent only hypocrisy and a complete lack of morality for everything that has repeatedly taken place in their stadium.
It is time for someone to step in. It is time for the responsible bodies—ESAKE, EOK, and the Government—to intervene regarding a stadium that insults the sacred values of family in every one of our matches.
If this is who you support, then enjoy them!
And finally—just once in this country—we must judge actions, not reactions!
