Ergin Ataman and Nikos Rogkavopoulos spoke on behalf of Panathinaikos BC AKTOR ahead of tomorrow’s EuroLeague matchup against FC Barcelona (03/10, 21:15), as part of the 2nd round of the regular season.

The head coach of the Greens initially stated: “They are coming off a heavy defeat, but they have a very strong roster and highly experienced players. In atmospheres like OAKA, such experienced players come with a very strong mentality. We need to be prepared for a tough game and to have the right mindset. Games against Barcelona are always difficult. I remember that last year we won at the very last second, and it will be a very tough game again.”

Regarding the condition and availability of Cedi Osman, he responded: “Cedi Osman had one practice session and tomorrow morning we will see how his condition is and decide after the morning practice.”

Finally, when asked about the time needed for Panathinaikos BC AKTOR to fully gel, he noted: “Of course, we need to work together and start understanding one another, better recognizing how we should handle certain defensive situations and improving our timing. Offensively, we have some players who have been playing together for several years and know how to do this. For some, this is their third season, so it’s more comfortable for them. But we also have some new players on the team, and they need to adapt their game to the team, just as the team must adjust to their style of play.”

On his part, Nikos Rogkavopoulos stated:

“They play at a very fast pace and shoot with ease. They are a team with tremendous talent. In the opener, they lost, so they are coming in with even greater motivation.

We must be even better, because we are facing a stronger team than Bayern, and for that reason we need to focus more in order to claim the victory. Coach has told us we need to concentrate more on defense and our rotations, to play tough and control the rebounds.

On offense, we need to move the ball and play with confidence. The trust of my teammates, the coach and the staff helps me play with confidence. The competition at the small forward position gives me even more motivation”.
