Information for Fans Traveling to Abu Dhabi
Panathinaikos BC AKTOR informs the club’s supporters who will be traveling to Abu Dhabi for the Final Four that security measures—as outlined by the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs, EuroLeague Basketball, and the authorities of the United Arab Emirates—will be extremely strict.
Abu Dhabi places particular importance on local traditions and values. Therefore, those traveling for the Final Four are expected to behave respectfully and comply with local laws and customs.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued an official advisory for travelers to Abu Dhabi, which includes examples of behaviors that could lead to arrest or imprisonment. Indicatively:
Filming or photographing individuals without their consent
Verbal abuse (even during a phone call) or inappropriate gestures
Photographing public buildings, military installations, police stations, or police officers, as this may be considered a threat to national security
Flying drones in unauthorized areas
Posting content (text or images) online that criticizes the authorities or local population
Driving under the influence of alcohol or using narcotic substances, which may result in imprisonment of up to ten (10) years and a fine of up to €50,000
Regarding attire, while Western clothing is generally tolerated, dress codes are strictly enforced in public services and religious sites, such as the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, which is also a tourist attraction.
Due to the Islamic faith, consumption of alcoholic beverages in public is prohibited. However, alcohol is permitted within hotels and certain restaurants.
Furthermore, within the venue of the games (Etihad Arena), the following are prohibited: flags, flares, lasers, drums, vuvuzelas, food and beverages, as well as smoking (including electronic cigarettes). Smoking fans will be escorted out of the arena.
It should also be emphasized that any act perceived as disrespectful or offensive toward the local religion or culture may result in severe penalties by Abu Dhabi Police. The same applies to any damage to private or public property—including actions such as placing stickers or using spray paint on buildings, poles, etc.
For this reason, all Panathinaikos BC AKTOR supporters are urged to exercise particular caution both inside and outside the Etihad Arena during the Final Four matches, as any form of misconduct could result in sanctions against the team as well.
To avoid any inconvenience, please note that Panathinaikos BC AKTOR bears no responsibility for tickets purchased on the secondary market via third parties or resale platforms.
Finally, we inform you that for emergencies involving Greek fans during the Final Four, there is an emergency contact number for the Embassy: +971 50 390 1820.
