Nikos Rogkavopoulos joins Panathinaikos AKTOR
Panathinaikos AKTOR BC announces the signing of Nikos Rogkavopoulos on a four-year contract.
Nikos Rogkavopoulos was born on June 27, 2001, in Maroussi, Greece. He stands at 2.03m (6’8″) and plays at the small forward position.
He began his basketball journey in the youth ranks of Doukas BC, where his talent quickly stood out, leading to his transfer to AEK Athens in the summer of 2017 at just 16 years old. With AEK, he celebrated winning the FIBA Intercontinental Cup in 2019 and the Greek Cup in 2020.
In the summer of 2021, he joined Promitheas Patras, where he averaged 6.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game in the Greek Basket League. In the EuroCup, he contributed 8.8 points (on 39.7% shooting from three-point range), 5.6 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.4 steals over 22 minutes and 30 seconds of playing time per game.
The following season (2022–23), he made his first move abroad, joining Merkezefendi Belediyesi Denizli Basket in Turkey. There, he showcased his significant talent, becoming a key player for the team with averages of 15.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.1 steals per game in the Turkish Basketball Super League (BSL).
His standout performances in Turkey paved the way for a transfer to Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz. During the 2023–24 season, he averaged 5.2 points and 3.2 rebounds in the Spanish Liga Endesa, and 6.1 points (on 52.1% shooting from beyond the arc) and 1.7 rebounds in 13 minutes and 27 seconds of action per game in the EuroLeague.
In the 2024–25 season, his numbers improved significantly, as he posted 8.9 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in 19 minutes and 21 seconds per game in Liga Endesa, and 9.7 points (on 43.5% three-point shooting), 3.9 rebounds, and 1 assist in 18 minutes and 43 seconds per game in the EuroLeague. On January 23, 2025, he delivered the best performance of his EuroLeague career, recording 22 points and 11 rebounds in a game against Real Madrid.
Throughout his career, Nikos Rogkavopoulos has been a key member of Greece’s national teams at all youth levels, consistently delivering impressive statistics.
In 2017, he averaged 18 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 2.4 assists at the FIBA U16 European Championship Division B, leading Greece to the gold medal and earning MVP honors.
In 2018, he was named to the All-Tournament Team of the FIBA U18 European Championship after averaging 19.7 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 2.1 assists with the U18 national team. In 2019, he competed in both the FIBA U19 World Cup—where he posted 13.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.4 assists—and the FIBA U18 European Championship, where he contributed 11.7 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 2 assists per game.
In the summer of 2021, he received his first call-up to the senior national team by Rick Pitino for the Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Canada, averaging 4 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2 assists. Since then, he has been a regular presence on the national team roster, including participation in the 2023 FIBA World Cup, where he averaged 8.2 points and 2.8 rebounds per game.
