Pedoulakis: “We showed what we wanted”

Argyris Pedoulakis spoke of the Panathinaikos player’s good mood during the encounter versus Kavala, something to be interpreted into numbers in the rebounds superlative.

The Panathinaikos Head Coach stressed: “After the second quarter we improved our defense and managed to get a lead on our opponents something which resulted in us getting the opportunity to offer time to new guys since we are coming from an exceptionally exhausting encounter and trip. We saved our strengths us you saw during the second half but the many rebounds we collected showed that we wanted to have the ball in our possession. I hope that Kavala straight after the end of its obligations in the Balkan League will be able to focus on the Greek League and do well, as I hope all the best to my friend Angelos (Koronios). Tomorrow we willre-examine Kapono, Ukic will not be enhancing our team in the game versus Panionios either, while Schortsanitis will undergo examinations again in 15 days in order to establish if he will be ok”.

Angelos Koronios, Head Coach for Kavala, stated: “I spoke to the guys before the game in order to boost their confidence. I told them that we bear no resemblance to Panathinaikos but we must try nevertheless. Duringthe second half weattempted to regroup, but when Panathinaikos grabs 42 boards there is not much to hope for. Second quarter was a catastrophic one for us. We need enhancement; we have spoken to the team President and requested two players for the paint. Rumors concerning Palacio are not true. Which players we want is for us to decide along with the administration and it is not up to the sites”.

Kostas Tsartsaris, amongst the best performers for Panathinaikos in Kavala, stated: “I believe the maturity and our focus provided us with the win. It is something we are after at this very critical period of time, in views of the Top16, for which we hope to prepare and in which we must stay concentrated. We must be as ready as ever for the games ahead of us so much in the Greek League and the Greek Cup as after. It is actually a first for us, not to be able to get any rest these days, since we have the Top16 premier on December 27. In any event, we must adapt to this new situation. Euroleague chose to make this change in its system. We are pros and we must do our duty”.

Gaios Skordilis stressed: “It was a test for us, this game. We were called upon to keep serious and be able to make it, since we are coming from quite a tough trip. We played as we should and managed to win, in order to be prepared for the remaining games to come”.

Steve Panos, stated: “Congratulations to Panathinaikos. It played one heck of a game. It read into our weaknesses and during the second half we lost our concentration, result being Panathinaikos to mount a great advanatage. We fought as best we could, but Panathinaikos was way too tough mainly in the paint”.
