Last summer he moved to the USA to play basketball at Westtown High School (Pensylvania).

After getting to an agreement, Giorgos Papagiannis stated: "I want to thank Panathinaikos' BC president, Dimitris Giannakopoulos, for believing me and bringing me to the team. I wish to thank him, because I wanted myself to be a member of Panathinaikos. Also, I wish to thank mr Argyris Pedoulakis for believing in me since when I was 14 years old and he told me that the best way to move on is to sign for Panathinaikos. He helped me a lot to make my decision. And of course I wish to thank my parents, Kanellos and Maris and my brother Minas, since they all support me all these years and they are precious to me".
