Calathes: "Proud and honoured to have been Diamantidis' teammate"

The captain Panathinaikos Superfoods, Nick Calathes spoke to paobc.gr about the importance of his and his team’s participation in the biggest ever friendly tournament in Europe, the “Diamonds Are Forever” and, of course, about Dimitris Diamantidis.

"I feel proud to have been his teammate and to have played with him until his very last game. I am proud to have been a teammate with one of the best players in the history of the European basketball. The Diamonds Are Forever tournament will be an exceptional event in honour of this great athlete. I am proud that I will be a part of this and I will have the chance to meet him again. I am excited and looking forward to these unique moments for Dimitris."

-Can you give us 3 words that characterize Dimitris Diamantidis?

"Special man, amazing guy, captain, leader, down to earth, and the list goes on."

-Do you remember a characteristic moment from the career of Dimitris Diamantidis?

"I remember a lot of moments, but I would choose our Euroleague 2011 championship win in Barcelona."

-How important is it for your team to compete in a tournament with such strong opponents in a packed OΑΚΑ?

"This tournament will be a great opportunity for us to test our level of readiness. We will play some of the best teams in Europe. It is going to be an excellent tournament, especially because it will be in honour of Dimitris."

-Do you want to sent a message to the fans of Panathinaikos Superfoods?

"I have nothing to say to our fans. I know they are going to fill the arena. They are always here to support us in their own unique way. Iam sure they will come to see, honour and applaude Dimitris Diamantidis."
