Ivanovic: "The Most Important Game for Us"

Dusko Ivanovic, A. J. Slaughter and Lefteris Bochoridis talked at the press conference ahead of tomorrow’s first Euroleague match between Panathinaikos and Turow (17/10, 21:30 EEST).

The clover’s coach: “We’re ready for our first match in Euroleague. Turow is very good in the offense, has some very good shooters, is very good at the offensive/defensive transition and will possibly play without pressure. We know that Euroleague is a highly competitive tournament and that our group is maybe the most difficult. For us, tomorrow’s match is the most important. Objectively speaking, we’re facing a team that plays well.”

About Julian Wright: “He will be in the line-up tomorrow. I will decide whether he will play or not. Don’t ask me about what he is able to contribute individually. What’s most important is the team and not Julian Wright.”

A. J. Slaughter: “I’m excited about the start of the Euroleague season. We’re in a difficult group. Every game’s going to be difficult. It’s important that the first match is at home. I’m looking forward to making my debut in the tournament. We have to get on the court and give our best in every match. The coach tells me that I should be self-confident and take some shots. I want to thank my teammates and my coaches, because they make me feel self-confident.”

Lefteris Bochoridis: “I can’t wait for my first match in Euroleague. I think it’ll be a great experience. We respect every opponent. We are prepared to see this match seriously. This will happen with all the matches. We had some misfortunes. Now the team is getting back to normality. In theory, Turow is the easiest team of the group. This isn’t going to affect us. We respect them as well as the other opponents in the group. The victory against Olympiacos made us feel very well. But we mustn’t get overexcited now that we won. And if we hadn’t won this game, it wouldn’t have been the end of the world.”
