Djordjevic: “We Made Stupid Turnovers”

The coach of Panathinaikos, Aleksandar Djordjevic stated after the game against Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar: "Congratulations to Lokomotiv Kuban, because the proved from the very first moment that they wanted this victory. For us, it is a tough loss and a tough night we have to manage. We lacked our defensive spirit and made stupid turnovers, especially in the first period. In such a game, every ball possession is important. Now we have to stay together and get prepared for the next game which is very crucial. Lokomotiv Kuban has very good ball-handlers, while Delaney has lots of talent and there is no doubt that he is one of the greatest players in the Euroleague. We tried to stop him and it worked out in the first half. Then he came up big and scored big three-pointers against our defensive rotations. Unfortunately, Nick Calathes was in foul trouble and was unable to defend him."

From the other side, the coach of Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar, Giorgos Βartzokas said: “It is a very important win which almost secured to us a spot in the Top 16. We played a solid game for 40 minutes and we deserved to win. The team remained loyal to our plan, including Delaney although he didn’t score in the first half. Malcolm is a very talented player who always puts the team over himself. Tonight he had an amazing game, not only for us, but for the spectators as well, since they saw a player nail 20 points in only one period. From the general point of view, I think that the key points for us to win here were the patience we had in both ends of the court, the good ball movement and the defensive performance. On the opposite side, we made many mistakes, especially in the third quarter. Our team is growing day by day and so far has won three games on the road, which is a great achievement. We must stay humble and avoid the exaggerating our feelings.”
