Panathinaikos Athens used a strong fourth quarter to take control of a tough fight against Virtus Segafredo Bologna and book a 90-76 victory at home to improve to 5-4.
Six players scored in double figures, with Dinos Mitoglou pouring in 24 points to go with 10 rebounds for the Greens, who took the fourth quarter 28-13. Kendrick Nunn, Kostas Sloukas and Luca Vildoza all scored 11 points and Aleksander Balcerowski and Mathias Lessort both added 10 points in the win, which was the 200th in the career for head coach Ergin Ataman. He is now one of just seven coaches with 200 EuroLeague victories.
The victory slowed down Virtus’s impressive recent run as it dropped to 6-3 after having won six of its last seven games. Marco Belinelli scored 20 points and Toko Shengelia picked up 17 points and 11 rebounds, but no other Virtus player could manage more than 7 points.
